Keratoconus cross-linking

Corneal cross-linking is a procedure to stabilize structurally weakened corneas in patients with keratoconus (progressive bulging of the cornea causing irregular astigmatism and loss of vision). In corneal cross-linking, vitamin B2 is applied to the cornea and then exposed to an ultraviolet light source (UVA), which generates a photochemical reaction in the corneal tissue, improving the structure of the transparent cornea and increasing its strength.

Pterygium surgery

Pterygium is the excessive growth of the conjunctiva that affects the cornea, which can cause red eyes, tearing, a foreign body sensation or vision compromise. Surgery is the only effective treatment for pterygium. With simple techniques, the pterygium is removed and the area is then covered with conjunctival autograft, this being the best technique to prevent recurrences.
